Cornerstone Building Brands — Who We Are

North America's largest exterior building products manufacturer, built on a foundation of engineering discipline, manufacturing scale, and long-term builder relationships.

Eight Decades of Building the Outer Layer

Cornerstone Building Brands was founded in 1942 with a single manufacturing facility and a straightforward mission: produce durable, well-engineered building products that contractors could rely on. Over the following decades, the company expanded through organic growth and strategic acquisitions, building a portfolio that today encompasses windows, entry doors, patio doors, vinyl siding, and architectural trim systems.

Today, Cornerstone operates 22 manufacturing facilities across North America. Our products are distributed through an established network of regional distributors and building material dealers, reaching every U.S. state and major Canadian provinces. Our workforce of more than 6,000 employees manufactures over 4,000 distinct product SKUs, giving builders the breadth of choice they need to satisfy their customers without managing multiple vendor relationships.

We are not a design brand chasing aesthetic trends. We are a manufacturing company focused on precision, repeatability, and supply chain reliability. Our engineering teams work to tighter tolerances than industry minimums demand, because we know that building products are judged by how they perform — not how they photograph.

Building a Track Record Since 1942

1942
Founded in the Midwest
Cornerstone established its first manufacturing facility producing residential windows for the post-WWII housing boom. Single plant, single product line, and a focus on dimensional precision that differentiated the brand in early building supply channels.
1978
Vinyl Siding Production Launched
Expanded manufacturing into vinyl exterior siding, responding to contractor demand for maintenance-free cladding. By 1985, vinyl siding represented over 30% of company revenue and established Cornerstone as a full exterior building systems supplier rather than a window-only manufacturer.
2003
Became ENERGY STAR Partner
Achieved EPA ENERGY STAR Partner status, formalizing an engineering commitment to energy performance that had been a product-development priority since the 1997 introduction of our low-e glass window program. ENERGY STAR qualification is now maintained across all core window and door lines.
2011
Miami-Dade NOA Listing Achieved
After a 4-year test and certification program, Cornerstone achieved Miami-Dade Notice of Acceptance (NOA) listings for its impact-rated window and door lines — enabling supply into Florida High Velocity Hurricane Zones (HVHZ). This opened the Florida new-construction and renovation markets and established our technical documentation model for complex code-compliance environments.
2020
EPD Publication for LEED v4 Compliance
Published Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) for core window and door product lines, providing project teams with third-party verified embodied carbon data required for LEED v4 and v4.1 MR Credit submissions. EPDs are updated on a rolling 5-year cycle in accordance with ISO 14044 and PCR requirements.

Independently Verified Performance

Every product line in our catalog is tested and certified by accredited third-party laboratories. We do not publish performance claims without test documentation.
